“THE VISION (part-3)”

We are entering our third year for The Dixie Mattress Festival.

The first year we sent this out not actually knowing if it was going to work at all.

We would like to thank you for your continued support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!   From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you.  Thank you everyone who came out and supported this endeavor.  Thank you for making it what it is today.

We hope our vision is different. This event is planned to be a special event with a limited number of people.  We tried to start something special.  In hindsight, we ended up creating a place where everyone could make it as special as they wanted.  This show is being put on by people like you, for people like you.  The plan is to continue this for as long as we possibly can.  We’ve limited the number of people to keep it small and more easily managed.  The limited number of people will also ensure that it remains something special and intimate through the years to come.  It will always remain that way.

In order for us to keep holding this gathering of family and friends, we will be relocating to another venue.  Just like the last two years, this place promises to be a special and magical place of its own.  We feel very blessed to be welcomed onto Pendarvis Farms.  Scott and Sherry Pendarvis have made room for us in their very busy schedule at their wonderful venue.  They have their own wonderful event called Pickathon, an ongoing music festival that they have been holding for well over ten years.

In addition to being able to have a location centrally located to Portland, we will also be taking a big step towards making our event more green this year.  The Barn where we will be holding the events is run on solar power!  And in turn we will be making a big push for recycling all kinds of trash.  We would like to make a special point about “micro-trash.”  The small things like bottle caps, cigarette butts, and the types of trash that sometimes gets overlooked.  We want to leave only footprints when we leave.  I know that you will all give us your support in accomplishing this task.

Being able to produce these shows has been a huge honor.  We have tried to capture the group consciousness while producing these shows, but the truth is we are not full time promoters.  We are made up of people you stand next to during the shows.  The group of people who have helped to make these shows possible have never asked for anything in return.  But now I have to ask for your support.  If you like what we are doing and truly want to see it continue then I am asking you to come out and join us.  Unlike most festivals and shows, we will not be in the pursuit of profit.  But we do need your help to at least break even.  We do this because we love Jerry , we love the Jackmormons, and we love seeing you at the shows

We want to continue to provide the opportunity for folks to camp and be with friends and family.  We'll get to see Jerry Joseph and The Jackmormons on their own terms in a special setting with the extended family.   It is our desire to provide a place where the Jackmormons ARE the show!  A place where we all can enjoy a shared experience.  A place where we will gather, enjoy the music with our longtime friends as well as friends we have not yet met, and our extended family.  A place where the bar is not closing, where you can dance, relax and enjoy the show.  A place where no one is telling you that you can’t dance here; you have to leave now, we're closed.  A place where you don’t have to worry about driving in order to get home.  A place to be among friends and people who are there for the same reasons as you, to enjoy the music that holds a special place in all our hearts.

We did find another really special place that looks to have the magical mystical vibe that was so prevalent the last two years.  This year’s festival will be in Happy Valley Oregon at Pendarvis Farms.  This location has been host to some very special music and has a great vibe to build upon.  So let’s see if somehow, someway, we can even surpass what we have already accomplished.

The plan still is to remain small, possibly growing it slowly in future years if there is a demand from the extended family.  In order to keep it manageable we will have to have limited attendance.  Keeping it small will also ensure that it remains a special event.

Just like last year, there will only be 150 tickets for sale.  Perhaps in the following years there might be 200, maybe and then again, maybe not.  Rest assured that it will never grow to unlimited ticket sales.  Any growth that happens will be done with a guiding factor that the uniqueness is maintained.  The growth will only include new things that ensure this and keep the costs even with the income.  Growth is secondary.  Maintaining the uniqueness and the special experience is the primary purpose. This event will never be something that is designed to turn a profit.  Instead, it is designed to turn a three day experience into a very special yearly gathering.  We hope that you can come out and join us!  Please do, you will not be disappointed.  It is your chance to see the band perform on a level that cannot be attained in a bar setting.

None of this will be possible if you guys don’t show up.  It is the energy and smiles you bring that help propel us from good to amazing.  We would like to see Pendarvis Farms become our permanent home.  With easy access from Portland and only minutes from the airport and a train station, it should help to make your travel plans simpler.  So we will see you there this year, right?  This is the best location we could have ever hoped for.  We need you to help keep it.  Tell everyone you know.  Bring your grandmom!  Buy tickets for your friends and bring them along.  Help us make it successful so that we can continue doing this.

This event is not advertised like most events because well, for one, it costs money.  And it just makes it easier to handle everything involved.  We are just a bunch of people like you.  It also helps keep the limited number of tickets in the hands of the people who want them the most, you guys.  But we need your help spreading the word to others.   If this is how you want to see Jerry and the Jackmormons perform, then bring a friend!  Help others discover what you have already discovered.  This special event is for you guys and it will always be that way because it was meant to be that way.

You made this event happen through Jerry’s music.  This event is only as special as YOU make it.  The last two years you made it very special.  The people this year have very high standards to live up to.  Look out for each other.  Take care of each other.  Everyone there will be “family.”  Everyone will be kind.  Everyone here is a friend of someone and everyone.  Everyone in attendance will be there because they were meant to be.   We are all looking forward to seeing everyone again!

One Love

“THE VISION (part-4)”

We are entering our fourth year for The Dixie Mattress Festival.

A lot of what we are going to say is old hat to most of you but it still holds true today.   There is no way to accurately portray our gratitude to all of you using only words.  I hope that you really do know and understand how much your support has meant to, not only us, but to the band too.  They love playing this event and they love the vibe our extended family brings out at the shows.   Thank you for building family and making it one big love fest, you guys are GREAT!

At the risk of repeating ourselves.....

We would like to thank you for your continued support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!   From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you.  Thank you everyone who came out and supported this endeavor.  Thank you for making it what it is today.  Not in our wildest dreams did we imagine this.

The first year we sent this out not actually knowing if it was going to work at all.  due to your continued support it has worked.  None of this will be possible if you guys didn’t show up.  It is the energy and smiles you bring that help propel us from good to amazing.  We would like to see Pendarvis Farm continue to be our permanent home.  With easy access from Portland and only minutes from the airport and a train station, it should help to make your travel plans simpler.  So we will see you there this year, right?  This is the best location we could have ever hoped for

That too requires your cooperation and understanding.  We must be self policing and everyone is part of security.  Don't expect someone else to take care of it, take it upon yourself to make our piece of the world better.

The plan still is to remain small, possibly growing it slowly in future years if there is a demand from the extended family.  Right now we think we are in a good place and still have a littlle room for growth.  In order to keep it manageable we will always have limited attendance.  Keeping it small will also ensure that it remains a special event.  But we need your help spreading the word to others.   Spread the word there are still people out there who should be here, but don't know about us yet.

Over the last three years you made it very special.  The people attending this year have very high standards to live up to.  Look out for each other.  Take care of each other.  Everyone there will be “family.”  Everyone will be kind.  Everyone here is a friend of someone and everyone.  Everyone in attendance will be there because they were meant to be.   We are all looking forward to seeing everyone again!
