“THE VISION”

This show is being put on by people like you for people like you.  There will never be the pursuit of profit, rather the goal of providing shows in a festival type of environment for the folks who want to see Jerry Joseph and The Jackmormons but not at a festival performing behind and alongside a lot of other bands.  It is our desire to provide a place where the Jackmormons ARE the festival.  A place where any supporting bands performing are there because of a link to what we are doing.  A group, a family, a shared experience.  A place where we will gather, enjoy the music with our longtime friends as well as friends we have not yet met, our extended family.  A place where the bar is not closing, where there is not some security person is telling you that you can’t do that here; you have to leave now, a place from which you do not need to drive away from between shows.  A place to be among friends and people who are there for the same reasons as you, to enjoy the music that holds a special place in all our hearts.

The plan is to start small and for it to remain small.  Possibly growing it slowly year to year if there is a demand from the extended family, but always having a limited attendance in order to ensure that it remains a “special” event.  If ever there is a profit it will be invested into the following year’s (or years’) event(s).   We are starting out with 150 tickets for the series of shows this first year.  Perhaps in the following years there might be 200, maybe and then again maybe not.  Rest assured that it will never grow to unlimited ticket sales.  Any growth that happens will be done with a guiding factor that the uniqueness is maintained.  The growth will only include new things that ensure this and keep the costs even with the income.  Growth is secondary.  Maintaining the uniqueness, the special experience is the primary purpose. This event will never be something that is designed to turn a profit instead it is designed to turn a three day experience into a very special yearly gathering.

This event will not be advertised in the newspaper.  You will not be reading about it in the Sunday Arts and Entertainment guide or in some advertisement in Rolling Stone magazine.  You will know about it because you knew where to look; on Jerry Joseph’s website; because you heard the buzz among fellow fans on the Jackmormons discussion group or you heard from someone you know. You discovered this special event because it was meant to be that way.  This event is only as special as YOU make it. Everyone there will be “family”, everyone will be kind. Look out for each other. Take care of each other. Everyone here is a friend of someone and everyone.  Everyone in attendance will be there because they were meant to be.

“THE VISION (part-2)”

This is the second year for The Dixie Mattress Festival.

Last year we sent this out not actually knowing if it was going to work at all.

Even though we fell short of our financial goal, I think we would all agree it was a huge success in every other aspect.

We would like to thank you for your support. Thank you, thank you, thank you.   From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you.  I think the best way to sum up how we feel about last year is to quote Jerry.  Before the encore on the last night …”Well I’m just out of adjectives”.   Thank you everyone who came out and supported this endeavor.  Thank you for making it such a success.

This event is planned to be a special event with a limited number of people.  We tried to start something very special.  In hindsight, we ended up creating a place where everyone could make it as special as they wanted.  This show is being put on by people like you, for people like you.  The plan is to continue this for as long as we possible can.  We hope it is different. We limited the number of people to keep it small and more easily managed.  The limited number of people will also ensure that it remains something special through the years and not just any other shows.  It will always remain that way.

Unlike most festival and shows we will not be in the pursuit of profit.  Rather the goal of providing shows in a festival type of environment.  An opportunity for folks to camp and be with friends.  Friends who all want to see Jerry Joseph and The Jackmormons.  And, not performing behind and alongside a lot of other bands.  It is our desire to provide a place where the Jackmormons ARE the festival.  A place where the supporting bands performing are there because of a link to what we are doing.  A group, a family, a shared experience.  A place where we will gather, enjoy the music with our longtime friends as well as friends we have not yet met, our extended family.  A place where the bar is not closing, where you can dance, relax and enjoy the show.  A place where no one is telling you that you can’t dance here; you have to leave now were closed.  A place where you don’t have to worry about driving in order to get home.  A place to be among friends and people who are there for the same reasons as you, to enjoy the music that holds a special place in all our hearts.

This year’s festival will be in southern Oregon.  The location we had last year has been sold and will no longer be available to us.  We did find another really special place that looks to have the magical mystical vibe that was so prevalent last year.

The plan still is to remain small.  Possibly growing it slowly in future years, if there is a demand from the extended family.  In order to keep it manageable we will have to have a limited attendance.  Keeping it small will also ensure that it remains special event.

Just like last year there will only be 150 tickets for sale.

Our event will not be advertised in the newspaper.  You will not be reading about it in the Sunday Arts and Entertainment guide.  This event is not advertised like most events. There are some reasons for that, and well for one it costs money.  It also helps keep the limited number of tickets in the hands of the people who want them the most, you guys.  It sets things up so that there is not really a chance of a ticket ever being scalped.  And it just makes it easier to handle everything involved.  We are just a bunch of people like you.  If this is how you want to see Jerry and the Jackmormons perform then you’ll know when to look.  You will know about it because you knew where to look; on Jerry Joseph’s website; because you heard you heard it from someone you know. You heard a buzz among fellow fans on the Jackmormons discussion group.  You discovered this special event because it was meant to be that way

You discovered it through Jerry’s music.  This event is only as special as YOU make it.   The first year you made it very special.  Look out for each other.

Take care of each other.  Everyone there will be “family”, everyone will be kind.  The people this year have a very high standard to live up to.  Everyone here is a friend of someone and everyone.  Everyone in attendance will be there because they were meant to be.   We are all looking forward to seeing everyone again.
